Addressing a programme organised by Sanchar Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd. in the capital on Saturday, Pandey urged the private sector to suggest programmes and policies that should be introduced to boost exports.
Pandey also said that the government was closely monitoring the cooperatives to see if they were operating under the guidelines or not. The economy was at risk due to lending of the cooperatives, he added.
Cooperative movement leader Deepak Prakash Baskota sought the introduction of government policy to promote cooperatives and said the time has come to review the contribution made by cooperatives to the Gross Domestic Production (GDP).
Former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Advisor at the Ministry of Finance, Keshab Prasad Acharya, journalist and company chairman Bishnu Nisthuri also addressed the programme.
